There are two IOPC Funds: the 1971 Fund and the 1992 Fund which have different maximum amounts of compensation and different Member States. Membership in the 1992 Fund is increasing. The 1971 Fund lost importance as States left to join the 1992 Fund. Due to denunciations, the 1971 Fund Convention ceased to be in force on 24 May 2002,
